FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I hope you're ready to read a LOT:
Q: What's included in my shoot?
A: My shoots are all inclusive! In your shoot you will get the full treatment. We start with a phone, FaceTime, Skype or in studio consult. The day of your shoot, my professional board certified stylist will custom style your hair and makeup just for you, to your specifications. I will set this appointment up for you with my hair and makeup artist when you book with me. Your hair and makeup will take about 60 to 90 minutes, give or take. All the while, you'll be dining on my hand picked, gourmet chocolates that I have selected from Chocolate Bliss. The fun doesn't even begin to stop there. After your hair and makeup are finished, we will go over your wardrobe for your shoot while listening to your favorite tunes that I have picked based on your custom selections that we have discussed in your consultation when I get to know you. The shoot will take about 60-90 minutes, but we will shoot until we are both thrilled with the results. People usually bring a huge bag of things, and that's great, but the more you bring, the more we'll take and the more you'll spend, so I would say anywhere from 3-5 is a great number of outfits for you.
Q: Do you provide any clothing?
A: I have a small client wardrobe for my clients that you will have access to. I have bodysuits and a few things of that type. For hygiene reasons, you'll just wear a thong or underwear with my clothing, and I wash everything in studio with Dreft, immediately after it's on my clients, when we wrap up the session. I have my clients place them in the washer so they can witness the things going into the wash, themselves. I have accessories, and a collection of jewelry for you to borrow for your shoot, but I'm a pretty natural shooter and we don't use a lot of jewelry. Be sure to bring any jewelry that is special to you, though.
Q: Do you shoot pin up?
A: I don't, actually. I will, however, do some pin up(ish) shots for you. I just don't like to do anything that dates an image. You're not playing a part in my studio. You're embracing yourself, and no one else. I want my women to feel timeless. I do know many other talented photographers in the area if you would like to do only pin up shots.
Q: Do you shoot couples boudoir?
A: No, I don't, but again, I know a few others in the area that do, so feel free to call, text or email me about this. I just don't focus my work on "sex".
I have personal reasons for this and I'm not open to discussing this further so please do not ask me more than once.
Q: But - you're shooting women in lingerie, and I see some nudes...?
A: I do shoot nudes, but mostly implied. I don't like to focus on sex, so it's more about body empowerment and appreciating everything your body does for you. I wouldn't take an image I would be embarrassed to show my daughters or an image that I would be embarrassed for your children to see of you. I want to give women a safe place to express their sexuality and bodies without judgement.
Q: Wow, that's impressive. So how fast would I get my proofs back?
A: You'll get your proofs anywhere from 2-3 weeks after your shoot, but if you're in a hurry, I can rush the editing for you and have them done in 48 hours. There is a $100 rush fee. I will contact you as soon as they're done to get your reveal appointment set up. Your "reveal" is where you will see your finished images. I do not allow men in my studio at all for anything boudoir related. My studio is a safe place for women to come and be women.
Q: After I order my products, how long will it take to get to me?
A: It depends on what you order, but anywhere from 14-21 business days is usual. This really depends on what you order. The albums come pretty quickly (5 days to get to me, 2-3 days to mail to you). Again, I can do a rush on this as well. The rush fee will depend on what you order.
Q: How do I get my stuff when it all comes in?
A: I will discuss this with you during your reveal, but we have two options. One is for you to pick it up at the studio. The other option is called certified restricted delivery. This option is only available if you are over 21, and only you will be able to sign for it. This is a USPS shipping option so it's extremely safe. It comes with tracking, and they will ask to see your ID when you sign for it. The most important thing is that the name on the ID has to match the name the package is addressed to and it must be a residential address. If you're not home, you can go pick it up at the USPS nearest to you and you will be identified and sign for it there. I cannot mail this to a business, as this is not something the USPS offers.
Q: I can't seem to find your pricing on your site here, why not?
A: I'm going to write a blog on this because this is very personal to me, and not just a marketing strategy. I personally love it when clients fall in love with my work, not my pricing, although I'm passionate about working with people of all budgets. Please just email me or call me for that information. I like to go over everything over the phone or in person so you can know exactly what to expect when working with me. You are SO much more than a paycheck to me.

Q: Great! Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes, I do actually! I will set you up on a payment plan (The Booty Bank) and have you sign a purchase agreement when you place your order. Nothing will be ordered until your plan is paid off in full. If you fault on your payment arrangements, none of your payments will be refunded.
Q: I can't wait to do this! How do I get on the books with you?
A: You can email me at: melissa@melissaadamsllc.com to set up your consultation. We can talk over the phone, or if you'd prefer to meet with me and see my studio in person, we can meet there for your consult to discuss your session and get on the same page. I'm located at 315 Main Street in Jasper, IN but I'm in the studio by appointment only, so it's important to be sure to contact me first before you drop by.
Yes, that's me in the picture! Taken by Teri Hofford.
Thank you for contacting me!
These are my foundations of my work, and why I define it as boudoir
1) I will NEVER take an image I would be embarrassed to show my daughter. You will be tastefully covered in some way, whether it's with your own body, or otherwise, you'll be tastefully portrayed.
2) My clients are NOT required to take off anything to do a shoot with me. I would have gone with "glamour photographer" but what do you think when you hear "glamour"? 80s hair. Right away. Cheesy pose and too much airbrushing... No thanks. I want my clients to feel glamourous and timeless. Not silly or uncomfortable.
3) I wanted people to know I specialized in boudoir photography. I am trained for every body type and every age of woman.
4) I am trained to take pictures of women in lingerie. I know what poses will best suit you. I'm comfortable with the beauty of the female body, and I strive to prove that to my customers.
What should you wear?
This is where it really gets fun. Please send me a full body (clothed of course!) selfie with the three things you love about yourself, and some things that concern you about your session. I custom design my sessions for YOU. I have a full lingerie guide to help us style your session together. Feel free to grab some of your favorite jewelry and don't forget your heels!
I also have some one pieces in my studio that work with many body styles and skin variations. My clients can wear these with a thong or G String underneath and the pieces are washed immediately in a dye free, Dreft immediately after use.
Will you shoot my (husband/boyfriend) for me?
Although "dudoir" is something that is on the rise and becoming more and more in demand, that is not something I would like to offer for my own personal reasons. I also do not take couples boudoir or pin up boudoir images. It's nothing against those styles, it's just not where my heart is in this business. I like my images to have a timelessness to them. I will do "stylized shoots" like a "Marilyn Monroe style" or a "tattooed" style or something of that nature, just not pin up, dudoir or couples boudoir.
I'm ready to book! How does this work?
Trust me, I'm just as excited as you are! I love my job. The first thing you'll want to do is email me at melissa@melissaadamsllc.com to book your consultation. Once you have filled out the contract, questionnaire, set a date in stone with me and paid your retainer (deposit), you're officially on the books. After you are booked for your session, please feel free to call or text or snap me with any questions regarding your session. I would love to answer them and that's what you're paying me for. Please don't hesitate or think you're a bother at all. I am thrilled to be doing what I love.
