I chose to have boudoir images taken after having my confidence shatter postpartum.
Don't get me wrong, I am proud of who my body created and the experience of motherhood is amazing.
But I felt this strange dysphoria - my body was no longer the body I took 27 years to build and be comfortable in.
I wanted to confront that dysphoria.
I searched a local Moms group and saw Melissa being recommended by several members of that group.
I took a look at her work and felt comfortable with how she represented her clients.
Going into my session, I wasn't nervous at all. I was more thrilled.
I was excited to have this "me" time. I rarely get to express a more feminine side of me.
I always try to find new things to do - and the idea of this session just excited me!
My favorite part of this experience...
I have two:
1. I loved this "A-ha!" moment when I had a specific outfit on. It just worked. It was me! I felt so comfortable and empowered.
2. Having the reveal with Melissa, I reviewed some photos that I fell in love with. Why? Because I was genuinely smiling in them.
I never get to see myself smile. It really made me feel a peace within myself.
Now that I've completed my session, I feel empowered. But also relieved - I've conquered a challenge I've set for myself.
I would recommend Melissa because she made me feel comfortable. I understand boudoir is an intimate session, but Melissa just made it feel like a "girls' day out".
She is so laid back, but professional. She made me feel like a true model.
